America no longer provides any visas in Turkey and vice versa
America has decided to no longer issue non-immigrant visas in Turkey. Following this announcement, Turkey has decided to do the same.
Recent events have made the United States decide to evaluate the safety of the mission and the staff according to the diplomatic mission Ankara (Turkey's capital).
This decision was taken after a Turkish employee of the US Consulate in Istanbul was arrested because this person was suspected of espionage. They also suspected that the Turkish employee was a member of the Fethullah Gülen movement. Gülen is suspected to be behind the failed coup of July 2016.
Taste of their own medicine
A few hours after America announced this decision, the Turkish Embassy in Washington decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. For the time being Turkey also stops issuing non-immigrant visas to America. The reason behind this was also the safety of their staff.
