Visa requirement for America
The European Parliament wants to introduce a Visa for Americans who wish to travel to Europe because of the violation of the principle of reciprocity.
Visa requirement for America
The European Parliament wants Americans traveling to Europe to apply for a Visa. The majority voted for this plan.
Visa free
Americans still travel without Visa to Europe. In the meantime, the Romans, Bulgarians, Cypriots, Croats and Polish governments have demanded that they apply for a visa when traveling to America. That is also the main reason that the European Parliament believes that there must be a Visa requirement for the Americans based on the principle of reciprocity. The principle of reciprocity means: if US residents can travel without a Visa to a EU Member State, EU citizens must also be able to travel to the US without a Visa.
The reason
America has not just decided to give these five countries a Visa requirement. The rules of identifying these countries would not meet the requirements of America.
Fair?
The question that is playing now is, is this fair? America clearly has its reasons to give these five countries a Visa requirement. The parliament indicated that the plan, in order to give the Americans a Visa requirement for Europe, should have been in place last year. And that's why they want the European Commission to take care of this soon. Measures must be taken within two months.
Exemption
Last year, the European Commission already pressured America to exempt Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Poland from Visa requirements. Since then, they have committed several consultations, but unfortunately without result. America continues to refuse to work with it. In the next months, the Commission will increase their amount of pressure.
